In all my days I have never been in the presents of wall to wall, well dressed gay black men coming together for a cause. It felt like I was at The Presidential Inauguration Ball and it happened at Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery.
The Gentlemen's Ball is a fundraiser for Aid Atlanta Evolution Project. It is a Black Tie event. It was outstanding, awesome, elegant, it was a nice place to be on last night. The people that I met was just amazing. I take my hat off to everyone that had anything to do with this event from start to finish.
Let me tell you about the Evolution Project:
The Evolution Project is committed to the prevention of and education about sexually transmitted diseases and the lives that they affect daily. They provide access to HIV testing and STD screening at on and off-site locations. Members are provided risk counseling and linkage to free medical screenings, case management, HIV/STD treatment and other health care services. Additionally, the Evolution Project offers mental health services such as individual, relationship and group counseling. We would like to take a moment to express our deepest thanks to everyone that helped make The 2nd Annual Gentlemen’s Ball a success: The Beneficiary, Sponsors, Volunteers, Staff, Media, and most importantly, YOU. To be honest, the words ‘thank you’ doesn’t quite sum up the enormity of our gratefulness for your support; it extends beyond measure.
We began this journey with a goal to provide a socially conscious outlet by which we could recognize the true essence of who we are as a community - proud, remarkable, dynamic individuals that can come together in a celebratory fashion not just for one night, but for the future as well. We have learned that although we are the creative minds behind The Gentlemen's Ball, our vision is one that is also shared by you. This makes us happy. This makes us proud. This makes us feel honored.
As we reflect, just as we did after the 1st annual Gentlemen’s Ball, we are able quantify the wealth of knowledge and understanding that we have gained. As we move forward, we endeavor to apply these lessons learned in order to make the upcoming ball even better than the ones before.
We sincerely hope that you will continue to support this movement and continue to grow with us. Let’s continue to build together!
